Wilma E. Lyerla, 96, of Montgomery, Alabama, formerly of Bluford, Illinois passed away at 10:35 A.M., Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama. She was born Thursday, August 19, 1920, in Jefferson County, Illinois to parents, Lloyd and Grace (Merret) Marlow. She married Leroy Lyerla on October 6, 1940, in Saint Charles, Missouri, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the chapel at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois with Pastor Scott Lambrich officiating. Interment will follow.
Wilma is survived by her two daughters: Sandra Kovach and husband Jim of Eclectic, Alabama and Judith Lanier and husband James of Eclectic, Alabama; one grandson David Kovach of San Bernardino, California, five great grandchildren, and two sisters: Fern Gutzler of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Betty Henry of Moreno Valley, California. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents, husband, three sisters, Elnora Williamson of Belle Rive, Illinois, Mary Vance of Bluford, Illinois, and Shirley Newman of Wayne city, Illinois, and one granddaughter, Teri Hannah, preceded her in death.
Wilma was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Bluford and was a current member of Eastdale Baptist church in Montgomery, Alabama.
