Shirley Ann Chapman, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:00 P.M. Monday, October 17, 2016 at her home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born Monday, July 1, 1935 in Centralia, Illinois to parents, Thomas A. and Fern E. (Toedte) Bonner. She married Don Chapman on December 6, 1953 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
A Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Shirley is survived by her husband: Don Chapman of Mount Vernon, Illinois, son: Craig Chapman and wife Tana of Mount Vernon, Illinois, grandson: Lucas Chapman of Mount Vernon, Illinois, granddaughter: Nicole Chapman of Mount Vernon, Illinois, step-granddaughter: Taylor Peacock of Mount Vernon, Illinois, two brothers: Jim Bonner and wife Connie of Eldorado, Illinois and Jack Bonner of Riverside, California, and sister: Janice Scarbrough of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents, one infant daughter: Jean Ann Chapman, and one brother: Frank Bonner preceded her in death.
Shirley worked as a claim adjuster for Reliance and American International for over 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. She was the first May Fete Queen in Centralia, Illinois.
