Michael L. Keip, 60, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:05 A.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born Thursday, April 26, 1956 in Mendota, Illinois to parents, Paul Gaylord Keip and Freda Lois (Bean) Branch.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Michael is survived by his mother, Freda Branch of Mount Vernon, Illinois; children, Josh Keip, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Ralyn Longley and her husband, Jess of Dix, Illinois, Sean Keip and wife, Hillary of Woodlawn, Illinois, and Lukas Keip of Okinawa, Japan; grandchildren, Reese Longley and two more on the way; and sisters, Ruby Jean Bain and her husband, Jim of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Connie Keele of Mount Vernon, Illinois. Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Paul Keip and stepfather, Ira John Branch.
Mike worked in automotive sales for over 35 years. He worked for several car dealerships throughout southern Illinois. He spent most of his career working at Ford Square in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mike loved cars, enjoyed golfing, and singing karaoke in his spare time. Mike's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Reese. He loved to make people laugh, and was known for his great sense of humor. Mike will be remembered for his great generosity. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
