Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Fuller, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:13 A.M. May 13, 2017 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born August 29, 1939 in Marion, Illinois to parents, Kenneth C. and Bonnie L. (Stilley) Fuller. Gene married Elaine Cawvey on July 4, 1959. They were blessed with nearly 58 years of marriage.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Alan Smith, Reverend Merle Fullerton, Reverend Shane O'Guin, and Reverend Brian Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Gene is survived by his wife, Elaine Fuller of Mount Vernon, Illinois; children, Lori Smith and husband, Robert of Brazil, Indiana, Jenni O'Guin and husband, Reverend Shane of Sturgis, Kentucky, and Brian Fuller and wife, Tina of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Bryce Smith, Brittany Emrick, Lyndsey Huff, Austin Fuller, Caroline O'Guin, Carson O'Guin, and Catherine O'Guin; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Fuller and wife, Pearl of Rochester, Illinois and Lyndell Fuller and wife, Sharon of Evansville, Indiana; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Bonnie Fuller.
Gene was a longtime member of Logan Street Baptist Church. He retired from teaching at Mount Vernon High School after 25 years of service in the Business Department. Gene's greatest passion was for Gospel music and had a special gift of playing the piano. He used his God-given talent to share music with the community and surrounding communities. He was a blessing to those who heard him play. Gene was a member of the Starmen Trio and the Fuller Family Gospel Group. He enjoyed attending Gospel concerts. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Gene was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
