Grace Elizabeth Hogg, 93, of Crainville and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Parkway Manor in Marion, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Dr. Wade Rowatt Jr. and Pastor Bob Morwell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Carterville. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Grace was born on January 15, 1924, in Carterville, to Lloyd and Leta (Hogg) Edwards. She married Floyd "Bill" Jacob Hogg on December 18, 1943, in Blairsville. Together they shared 72 years before his passing on May 19, 2016.

She is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Roy Bitner of Mt. Vernon and Elaine and Greg Bateman of Las Vegas; grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy Bitner and Kelly Brookman of Robinson, Ill., Tracy and Jeff Collings of Mattoon, Teri and Joe Russo of Woodlawn, Jeff and Teri Bateman of The Woodlands, Texas, and Darren Bateman and Dawn Henry of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Cayden, Quincy, Austin, Taylor, Madison, Remington, Jori, Tyler, Jacob, Jordyn, Daryn, and Daye; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Pauline Bartos, Ruth Flanigan and Helen Clark; and brothers, George, Lowell and Earl Edwards.

She retired in 1980, after 20 years of service as a paralegal for Chicago Title and Insurance Company.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Carterville.

Grace also belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Business and Professional Women's Club in Mt. Vernon.

She was a talented cook known for her pies and dumplings. Grace enjoyed doing cross stitch and was a veracious reader.
