Audrey Jean Mellott, 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois went to Heaven at 3:27 P.M. September 1, 2017 in Mount Vernon. She was born August 6, 1945 in Belle Rive, Illinois to the late Frank & Geneva (Capps) Kehrer. She was a devout Christian with strong morals and faith. She achieved many worthy accomplishments during her lifetime.
Audrey is survived by her children, Marty Mellott, Rodney Mellott and wife, Heather, Lora Greathouse and husband, Tom, and Katrina Bauer and husband, Kip all of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Cody Mellott and wife, Cheyenn, Casey Mellott, Khalea Mellott, Alvy Mellott, Liam Mellott, Blaze Greathouse, Lucy Greathouse, Ilsa Bauer, and Nadia Bauer all of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Savanna Mellott and Sierra Mellott both of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and brothers, Leon Kehrer and wife Maria of Marion, Illinois and Donnie Kehrer and wife, Vicky of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Tina Kehrer.
Audrey Mellott was first; and foremost, a professional grandmother and mother. During her lingering illness, she was continuously cared for by her family and passed peacefully. She will be missed. Audrey especially enjoyed helping those in need. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education and proudly served the Mount Vernon City School District #80 for 23 years. She worked to help students learn to read and took particular pleasure in working with English language learners. Audrey taught art for several years at the WWJD Youth Church as long as she was able. She made an impact on her family, friends, colleagues, and students. She will be remembered.
