Anna's Story

Anna Marie Huff, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois went to live with her Heavenly Father at 5:35 A.M. Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. She was born Sunday, October 28, 1923 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to parents, Alva Ray & Sarah Alice (Padgett) Mellott. She married William E. "Bill" Huff in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1975.
Per her request, Mrs. Huff will be cremated and a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
Anna Marie Huff is survived by her son, Ron Mellott and wife, Rita of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 2 daughters, Sarah Stout and husband, David of Woodlawn, Illinois and Vesta Austin and husband, David of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 9 grandchildren, Marty Mellott, Rodney Mellott and wife, Heather, Lora Greathouse and husband, Tom, Katrina Bauer and husband, Kip, Alicia McClellion and husband, Justin, Matthew Stout and wife, Jessica, Joshua Stout, Brad Austun, and Eric Austin, 16 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hadley, Rylee, Skyler, Blaze, Lucy, Cody, Casey, Kaleah, Alva, Liam, Ilsa, Nadia, Emily, Hailey, and Austin; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a 2 closest friends, Helen Payne and Audrey Mellott.
Her parents; husband, brother, Bob Mellott; and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hayes preceded her in death.
Mrs. Huff was a member of WWJD Youth Ministries in Mount Vernon and would serve lunches there. She was the original owner of Hair Port beauty shop and worked as a Secretary for Virgil T. Bailey Real Estate and Top Notch Kitchen. She loved animals of all kinds and would rescue dogs most often. She had a big heart and loved her family. Anna will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Camp WeWoSeJe and to the Activities Department at Mount Vernon Health Care Center where she received excellent care from the entire staff.
