Ula's Story

Ula Marie Dare, 96, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:15 P.M. September 1, 2017, at her residence. She was born May 9, 1921, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to the late James A. and Lura (Keasler) Denny. Ula married John Leo Dare in 1951 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Ula is survived by her daughter, Elaine Hyde and husband Larry of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Cindy Louthian and husband Jon of Maryland and Andy Hyde of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Amanda Louthian and Owen Louthian, both of Maryland; sister Hazel Kraft of Chester, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ula was preceded in death by her husband, John Leo Dare and sister, Newell Manwaring.
Ula worked for Security Bank for 30 years until retirement. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church, Business Professional Women and National Federation Republican Women. Ula's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church.
