Stella Irene Kozanecki, 81, passed away December 16, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born January 14, 1936 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Audra Ralph and Freedia Marie (Wilderman) Milliner.
In 1996, Stella married Donald John Kozanecki. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2013.
Stella is surived by her brother, Sidney Milliner and wife, Darla of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister, Wilma Diesen and husband, Ronald of Midland, Michigan; stepdaughters, Mrs. Donna Tuman of Woodstock, Illinois and Debra Mianowski and husband, Peter of South Elgin, Illinois; five stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was preceded in death by brother Malcolm Milliner and wife, Bonnie.
In 1992, Mrs. Kozanecki retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company of Springfield, Illinois, having served as the companys Vice President of Underwriting. She was a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriters and a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association.
Mrs. Kozanecki was a member of Southwest Christian Church where she served in various capacities. She was also a member of the Board of Trustees of Cubb Prairie Cemetery and the Jefferson County Historical Society. She was Organizing Regent of the General John A. Logan Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the Union and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Visitation: Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Southwest Christian Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Southwest Christian Church with Minister Randy Steele officiating. Interment: Cubb Prairie Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southwest Christian Church Benevolence Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
