Ruth Herman, 92, passed away June 22, 2017 as a resident of Green Tree at Mount Vernon Memory Care, Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Ruth Louise Herman was born November 7, 1924 in Shiloh, Illinois to Peter and Ida (Koch) Weygandt. She was united in marriage with Myrl G. Herman on May 7, 1944 in OFallon, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2005.
Mrs. Herman devoted 24 years in the jewelry industry, advancing to Vice President of American Ring Company in East Providence, Rhode Island before retiring in 1989. She and her husband moved to Marion, Illinois and joined the Zion United Church of Christ. Mrs. Herman was also a member of the Marion Garden Club and a Master Gardener through the University of Illinois. She later moved to Mount Vernon, Illinois to be near family.
Surviving are her six children, Susan Monaco of St. James City, FL, Robert (Frances) Herman of New Hartford, CT, Virginia (Terry) Henry of Mt. Vernon, IL, Pamela (David) Harris of Cranston, RI, Thomas (Leslie) Herman of Warwick, NY, and Mary Campbell of Cranston, RI; nine grandchildren, Daniel Herman, David Henry, Lisa Mullins, Christine Harris, Michael Harris, Felicia Love, and Erin OGrady; ten great-grandchildren, Jackson Henry, Isaac Henry, Spencer Henry, Britany Mullins, Cadence Mullins, Dalton Mullins, Joseph Herman, Symphony Wiggins, Kyle Herman, Patrick OGrady; niece, Margaret Meyer; and nephews, John Weygandt, Peter Weygandt, and Daniel Weygandt.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and wife Arkel and Erna Weygandt; a sister, Virginia Grueshalla; and a nephew, James Grueshalla.
Mrs. Herman will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Illinois.
