Russell Braddy, 79, of Bluford, Illinois passed away at 2:30 A.M. March 19, 2017 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born August 6, 1937 in Bluford, Illinois to parents, Raymond Harvey & Jennie Otis (McConaughey) Braddy. Russell married Maxine Taaka at East Salem Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon Illinois on June 6, 1959. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Per his wishes, Mr. Braddy will be cremated after the visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Casey Avenue Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Pastor Jerry Montgomery officiating.
Russell Braddy is survived by his wife, Maxine Braddy of Bluford, Illinois; 2 sons, Michael Braddy of Bluford, Illinois and Mark Braddy and his wife, Sherri of Summersville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, William Braddy and wife, JoAnn of Hillcrest, Illinois; sister, Prudence Harden of Riverton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; son, Jeffrey Braddy; and sister, Marjorie Youngblood preceded him in death.
Russell was a member of Casey Avenue Baptist Church, worked as a farmer on the farm that has been in his family for over 100 years, then retired as a truck driver. He loved his antique tractors and spending time with his grandkids and great grand kids. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
