God called Peggy Lee Fairchild, 69, of Waltonville, Illinois home at 2:01 A.M. April 13, 2017 at her residence. She was born July 20, 1947 in Sparta, Illinois to parents, Gustav and Mildred (Williams) Reuter. Peggy married Ronald Lee Fairchild on August 21, 1965 at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 51 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 28, 2016.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church in Waltonville, Illinois with Pastor Curtis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois.
Peggy is survived by her children, Marty Lee Fairchild and wife, Tina of Waltonville, Illinois, Marla Lee Simpson and husband, Clint of Vandalia, Illinois, and Ronald Lee Fairchild II and wife, Kami of Waltonville, Illinois; grandchildren, Tabatha Kirkpatrick and husband, Tony of Woodlawn, Illinois, Joshua Ellis and wife, Fallon of Waltonville, Illinois, Sarah Lowery and husband, Jared of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Eli Fairchild of Ewing, Illinois, Macanda Myers and husband, Austin of Indianapolis, Indiana, Donovon Simpson of Evansville, Illinois, and Camaran Simpson of Vandalia, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Fairchild, Tamrah Lowery, Lauren Lowery, Zaylia Kirkpatrick, Laken Kirkpatrick, Remington Ellis, and Brynlee Ellis; and sisters, Anna Louise "Tootie" Gibbons of Iola, Illinois, Charlotte June Liggett of Indiana, and Alice Britton and husband, Bill of Iola, Illinois.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Fairchild; and siblings, Herman "Bud" Reuter and Helen Barton and husband, Lawrence.
Peggy worked for the Revere Copper and Brass Company, Ashley Candy Factory, and was a cook at Waltonville Grade School and Bellmont Grade School. She farmed along side her husband, Ron, which included raising hogs, cows, and trained work horses. Peggy's hobbies included baking, decorating cakes, doing crafts, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She was active in her church community and was a devout member of Oak Grove and Waltonville Freewill Baptist Church until her health failed. Peggy was also a member of Prairie Historian and Jefferson County Ladies Home Extension. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Peggy was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
