Louis M. Knox, Sr., 95, of Mount Vernon, Illinois departed this life at 11:25 P.M. October 24, 2017 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born July 14, 1922 in Rural Woodlawn, Illinois to George and Elizabeth (Bowers) Knox.
He first married Betty Elaine Bean and she preceded him in death in 1981. They had 3 children together, Judy Jackson and husband, Bernard of Bonnie Illinois; Louis Knox, Jr. and wife, Melba of Woodlawn, Illinois; and Vicky Campbell and husband, Mike of Bonnie, Illinois. Louis is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Later in life, he married Hazel C. Dare and she survives with his step-son and step-grandchildren.
Louis M. Knox, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; brother, Johnny R. Knox; sister, Eva Casey; and grandson, Mark Knox.
Mr. Knox retired from Prairie Farms Dairy and was well known as the milkman for many of the local stores. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing card games. He was a faithful member of Marcoe Pentecostal Church and served as their trustee for 59 years.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Rightnowar Cemetery in Rural Waltonville, Illinois with Reverend Bob Eskew officiating and burial to follow.
