Kenneth Ray Wilson, 86, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:10 P.M. November 11, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born September 9, 1931 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Ray A. and Reba Ann (Newton) Wilson. Kenneth married Darlene (Smith) Wilson on May 21, 1953.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Kenneth is survived by children, Darla Boone and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Kevin Wilson and wife, Diane of Woodlawn, Illinois; grandchildren, Rae-Leigh (Boone) Ellis and husband, David, Cody Boone and special friend, LaDawn Wheeler, Aaron Wilson and wife, Sarah, Jeffery Lind and wife, Tina, Kelsey Ralls and husband, Josh, Ashleigh Wilson, and Joshua Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Allie Boone, Lucie Boone, Livie Boone, Zoey Ellis, Kadence Wilson, Jaxon Wilson, Myah Wilson, Anika Ralls, Owen Ralls, Payton Lind, and Parker Lind.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Cheryl A. Wilson.
Kenneth served his country in the United States Air Force. He was the owner/operator of several service stations in Mt. Vernon. He started with the Texaco station and later Phillips 66, both on East Main Street and later operated the Shell station at 10th and Jordan. He later retired from Nu Bowl Lanes in Mt. Vernon. Kenneth enjoyed having coffee with his buddies. He loved his family dearly, and wanted everyone to know that. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Service time at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Frank Huston officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
