John Murphy, 67, of Nason, Illinois entered his eternal home at 12:23 A.M. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at his home in Nason, Illinois with his family by his side. He was born Sunday, October 31, 1948 in Johnston City, Illinois to parents, Jesse and Marjorie (Malone) Murphy. He married Juanita Lou Benegas on June 28, 1975 in Joliet, Illinois.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with best friend, Simeon Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Flint-Belle Rive Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois.
A Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
John is survived by his wife: Juanita Lou Murphy of Nason, Illinois, four children: Michael Murphy and wife Michelle of Lockport, Illinois; April Akers and husband Doug of Belle Rive, Illinois; James Murphy and wife Michele of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky; and Aleasha Wilkey and husband Sean of Dix, Illinois, Goddaughter: Lisa Madigan and husband Mike of Minooka, Illinois, two brothers: Terry Murphy and wife Ruth of Eldorado, Illinois and Steve Murphy and wife Lisa of Johnston City, Illinois, three sisters: Connie Wall and husband Virgil of Pinckneyville, Illinois; Elaine Davis and husband Ed of Panama City Beach, Florida; and Glenetta Kirkpatrick and husband Randy of Johnston City, Illinois, twelve grandchildren: Michael, Marissa, and Mallory Murphy; Ashley Carter and husband Jason; D.J., Sarah, Christien, and Paige Akers; Dillon Murphy and wife Kailen; Meghan Murphy; Samantha Comley; and Mikaela and Mikanda Wilkey, and seven great grandchildren: Wyatt; Zoey; Kimberlie; Athena Mae; Hailey Lane; Aubrey Lynn; and Paisley Ann.
His parents: Jesse Murphy, Sr. and Marjorie Murphy, two brothers: Jesse Murphy, Jr. and David Murphy, and a Godson: Markus A. Cortez preceded him in death.
John worked until his retirement as a pipefitter for Reynold's Aluminum in Cook County, Illinois. He was a member of Marcoe Full Gospel Church where he served as pastor until his failing health.
