Jim B. Orrick of Pewee Valley, KY died May 6, 2017 after a brief illness. He was 82. He was a faithful man of God who preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 60 years. He lived by the truth he preached. He pastored the Newby Baptist Church near Richmond, KY for seven years. He then pastored the Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Ironton, Ohio for over 41 years. Since his retirement from full-time ministry in 2005, he has continued to bless many congregations with his preaching. He was an ardent promotor of foreign missions and served for many years as president of Baptist Faith Missions.
A native of Mt. Vernon, IL, Jim was twice inducted into the Mt. Vernon High School Athletic Hall of Fame: once for basketball and once for football. After graduating high school, he graduated from Lexington Baptist College.
Jim was the son of the late Ada and J.A. Orrick. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene. He is survived by two brothers: John R. Orrick of High Ridge, MO, and Paul A. Orrick of Oakland, IL; three children: Cindy Orrick of West Point, MS, Jim Scott Orrick of LaGrange, KY, and Ann Orrick Wohlfarth of Williamsburg, KY. He was the much-loved "Baboo" to 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
