Gary L. Skinner, 72, of Salem, Illinois passed away at 5:30 P.M. April 7, 2017 at Salem Township Hospital in Salem, Illinois. He was born August 7, 1944 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to parents, Hallie Leon and Dorothy (Patterson) Skinner. He Married Jeanne A. Shirley on April 8, 1966 in Mount Vernon, Illinois
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Interment will follow.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jeanne A. Skinner; son, Tony L. Skinner and wife, Candice of Roanoke, Texas; grandchildren, Brianna of Austin Texas, and Jade and Ethan of Roanoke, Texas; brother, Jerry Skinner and wife, Ruth of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta McCarthy; and nephews, Ricky Capps and Buddy Youngs.
Gary proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked as a truck driver and a carpenter. Gary helped build Southgate apartments and several houses on Brownsville Road. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
