Franklin "Frank"'s Story
Franklin "Frank" Jay Keener, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:38 P.M. June 12, 2017 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born April 13, 1939 in Albion, Illinois the son of Vaurice Buddy and Esther Flora (Rodgers) Keener. On May 13, 1962 Summersville Baptist Church he married Sandra Sue Coberly and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2016
Frank Keener is survived by his 2 daughters, Sheila Conner and husband, Greg of Bonnie, Illinois and Jaelynn Wallace and husband, Craig of Dahlgren, Illinois; 4 grandchildren, Leah Schlag and husband, Adam of OFallon, Missouri, Lanie Conner of Bonnie, Illinois, Clay Keener of Dahlgren, Illinois, and Maizy Wallace of Dahlgren, Illinois; great granddaughter, Addison Lane Schlag; sister, Phyllis McKenzie of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 5 sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Keener of Albion, Illinois and Rose Keener of Hays, Kansas; Irene Ferguson and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Alesia York and husband Richard of Waynesville, Missouri; Cindy Dycus and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon,Illinois and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frank Keener was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Evalyn Kendrick; and 2 brothers, Don Keener and John Henry Rink Keener.
Mr. Keener was of the Christian faith and worked as a security guard for Joy Mining until retirement. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside Service: 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at West Salem Cemetery Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating and interment to follow. Memorials: Central Christian Church Food Pantry and to West Salem Cemetery Association.
