Dwight W. Bray, 102, of Silver Springs, Florida passed away at 1:50 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Ocala Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ocala, Florida. He was born Friday, September 25, 1914 in Noble, Illinois to parents, Charles W. and Ruth O. (Robards) Bray. He married Geneva R. Welker in Saint Louis, Missouri on September 6, 1939 and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2016.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois with Mr. Don Rector officiating and Interment to follow.
A Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to Service Time 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois.
Dwight is survived by his daughter, Ruth Patton and husband Paul of Silver Springs, Florida and grandson, Kevin L. Richardson of Saint Louis, Missouri.
His parents; wife; and two sisters, Ida Marie Maxwell and Bessie McCauslin preceded him in death.
Dwight served our country in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and worked as the owner and operator of Bray's Grocery store and Bray's Insurance Agency. He was a member of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church and the Opdyke Masonic Lodge #368 for over seventy years.
